Overview

When an organisation is developing (or already has) an integrated management system, it is important to know how audits can be conducted in order to benefit and support integration, as well as deciding whether audits can be integrated when management systems are constructed wholly or partially separate.

This three day course provides an overview of the requirements of the principal management system standards and how to perform an Integrated Management System (IMS) audit.

The course takes delegates through the integrated audit process, from the development of the audit schedule through to its follow up and closeout. Delegates will develop their knowledge and skills required to carry out IMS audits in order to identify both compliance with the relevant standards and potential for performance improvement.

The course illustrates how the similarities in the standards support the development of an Integrated Management System based on business processes. By identifying common elements between the 3 key management system standards - ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 - organisations can develop a multi-disciplined approach to their management system based on their existing framework. This enables organisations to:

  • Streamline their audit activities based on business priorities
  • Make more efficient use of resources
  • Improve communication and expand in-house knowledge
  • Optimise operational processes
