ISO 9001:2015 – Revision Timeframe

With the revision of ISO 9001 still at its Draft International Standard (DIS) stage, the comment period is drawing to a close and feedback submitted will be reviewed, after which time a Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) will be issued.

The date of the FDIS publication is somewhat vague, and anywhere between now and July 2015 has been speculated. With 90 countries involved in compiling and reviewing comments, dates are inevitably changeable.

IRCA have recently advised that the balloting process on the FDIS will open in July 2015 and close in August 2015, at which point IRCA will release their Transition Auditor training course guidelines for Training Organisations. The final version of ISO 9001:2015 is then due to be published in September 2015.

Based on the timeframes given to us above, BywaterExcel plan to run their first IRCA certified ISO 9001:2015 Transition Auditor course in September 2015. IRCA have made it clear that they will not accept certificates of attendance on non-IRCA approved transition training courses for transitioning purposes or retrospectively approve non-IRCA transition courses.

• Implications for organisations
• Timeline for the transition from 2008 to 2015

Between now and September 2015, quality professionals can prepare themselves for the transition to the new requirements by attending our 1 day ISO 9001:2015 Update Workshop. This will provide delegates with an overview of the proposed changes as they are at present (DIS stage) and an understanding of the new Annex SL structure.
