The standard that is used to assess the competence of Inspection Bodies was revised and re-issued earlier this year as ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Conformity Assessment - Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection. Inspection bodes will be required to transition to the new standard over what is expected to be a three year period.
